I have a nice little upgrade on the way so I'm tentatively offering my one year old Vpi Scout to forum members before sticking it on other sites.

UK supplied, in great condition, with JMW9 arm, all set up tools, cover, clamp and documents. HiFi+ product of the year, this is a great TT and can mix it with some very exotic company. Sound is tight fast, times like a demon. Think of it having the soundstage of typical American hifi with the timing of Linn or Rega.

New you can now get them for £1050 - a real bargain. Buy mine for £750.

Can also offer a Dynavector 20XH that's been lightly used for £200 if you want the package.

Thanks Mr P :)

For those who are not familiar with this giant killer see just one of the amazing reviews here

Come on guys :D

You are all buying those wimpy midrange british decks and missing out on a tt that can stand comparison with their big brothers ;)

Well if you'd said you were selling it two weeks ago when I was looking, I might have jumped  Now I'll just have to live with my wimpy old brit deck - there are worse fates of course :)

PS. How do you rate the dynavector compared to say a Shure V15VxMR? I may be in the market for a high output MC.

Sadly I've never heard the Shure. The Dynavector does seem to be a good allrounder though.

I'm no expert but I suspect cartridges are a lot like cars when it comes to brand allegience and bragging rites :D

I'm delighted with it - Auntie Ants is warming to it too - going to the factory tomorrow to meet the legendary Mr Fletcher :)

That said, if there were a Scout going for £750 with arm two or three weeks ago - I would probably have given it more than a seconds thought mind.

Hi Merlin,
I may be interested in the tonearm if you are willing to split it from the deck.
Please PM to discuss.

Sorry, I was out all day yesterday and missed your post.

But no, I really don't think i'd accept your kind offer, the arm alone retails for £900 so I guess I could get a good price just for that and sell the Scout with a Rega for a few hundred quid.

£750 is a steal for a turntable of this quality, why not have a listen and see if you agree?

Thanks. If you don't sell it with the deck and you still have it in a few weeks, I may get back to you. Its one of the carts I'm thinking about trying out - never had an MC and am tempted to give one a try, albeit in this case a high output. Do you have a ballpark figure as to hours use?

$£€

Hi again Merlin,
I have seen those amounts and higher charged for that tonearm in the UK which is a shame given that it is $850 (under £440) in the US!
$$ VPI JMW-9 $$

As per my post above I would be interested in the arm at 'the right price', PM to discuss.

Where are you based? Does in come with the perspex cover?

I'm between Windsor and Maidenhead. Yes it does come with the perspex cover, although it is rather utilitarian in appearence :D

Feel free to PM me if you fancy a listen

Hi Merlin - I've just done a deal on an OL Encounter so I'm going to have to pass on the VPI. It would make a lovely Christmas present for somebody though.

No worries, I may have an interested party anyway.

Still nothing concrete so anyone considering toys like P3's and P5's should consider this :D
