following on from my NAS turntable thread, i have been researching into buying a turntable spirit level.

i've found the company that makes the vial that goes inside one of these:
CAbubbless.jpg

their minimum order is for 10 vials, and i only need 1, so ....

if anyone is interested, pm me and i'll let you know costs. let's just say the vial is a small fraction of the whole thing.

(this is for the vial only, does not include the metal surround.)

Robert...........

Edit to say the outfit below sells them in single units!!

I must warn you that they lead to all sorts of levelling nerdery...........

I recently bought one, heres a clip from the mail, nice bloke to speak to...

We produce two versions of the Turntable Spirit Level. Both have
clear
acrylic bases with 7.2mm centre holes. The standard version
accomodates spindles up to 10mm, the deep base model 20mm. The reason
for producing two models is that the standard model is suitable for
the majority of decks and is lighter than the deep base model, which
is important when setting up a suspended turntable. Price is 14.95 GBP
standard, 19.95 GBP deep base model. Depending how many you require,
we can work out a favourable trade price.

Robert, the Mana one has a hole in the bottom so you can put it over the middle of the platter and make sure its level from that position.

Cheap ones (like the one I have) dont do that, and you need to shove them around the place for the best overall compromise.

On your NAS deck, I'd suggest levelling the bottom platter first, IME that made the job a lot easier because I was 90% of the way there by the time I got to the platter.

Cheers

Bottleneck..........

The SRM ones I mentioned do have a spindle hole in the bottom, in two depths none the less :-)

I use a circular bubble level from a builders merchant (cost £1.00) and have stuck it onto a metal centre from an old Technics 1210. Better than paying Mana £35 - or what ever they are charging now. Works just as well and keeps my TT nice and level.
