Tweeters

To get back to the original question how do you know the replacement tweeters are suitable. Who put them in in the first place, someone who knew what they were doing?

apparantly the arcs / nytechs were owned by the dad of the guy I bought them off, who had the tweeters replaced by his hifi dealer years ago when the originals died - so I'm assuming they knew what they were doing and fitted a closely matched replacement.
does anyone know about the crossovers for these arc speakers - Ive got some 050s without the Xover but Ive got the Xover for the 101s. Would it hurt the smaller speakers if the used the Xover from larger ones?

I had 101s years ago. I think you can use the crossover on either the 50 or 101. ARC made the 50, 101 and 202 speaker, all with external brick crossovers. They could be used active with Nytech amps and I think they would use the same settings for all 3 speakers.

I was just thinkin that if the Xover point was different on each model, it could damage the tweeters....

been thinking about this bit and dont think the Xover should be used with other speakers. The crossover board in the nytech for the 101s says ARC 101 on it, and the board in the A&R has ARC 50 they must be specific to the speakers. But the crossover points can't be that different surley....

hi..i have a pair

Bought a pair of ARC 101 speakers yesterday (unseen) and when they turned up the tweeters were non-original and one was dead. They've been replaced really professionally with KEF SP1192s.
So I'm looking for a pair of either KEF SP1192 tweeters or original ARC 101 tweeters (whatever they were) if anyone has any info on where I could get them or a pair lying around they fancy selling or something?
The problem with the tweeter is (what ive been told is called) the "tinsel wire" joining the voice coil and the terminals is broken. It looks to small to solder - anyone know if this is possible to repair or anyone who repairs drive units?
Any info or advice would be much appreciated because i cant wait to get these speakers up and running.

Cheers

i have 2 arc 101 original tweeters also the bass/mid units as well..im happy to sell them..im not sure what they arer worth though..let me know if your interested on [email protected]
