i manage to get a vinyl copy of their latest album, mixed thoughts, very different but grteat,
nando.

The mastering on the CD is bloody awful, no depth and all thump and leaden apart from the last track Cedars of Lebanon, so it shows they can get it right. Might sound good for the ipod nation, but on speakers with decent bass to begin with its awful. That Get your boots (or whatever it is) is one of the worst tunes in history.

This sounds just like Bono soaring over sludge with an occasionally intrusive hi-hat. Thats what happens when you have two Producers that get their work homogenised rather than sparkling by Steve Lillywhite. After the production on the Joshua Tree (which I have) this is a real shame (IMHO), as the material is very fresh and original. Some say its playing it safe as its a mish mash, but I think thats a positive as it shows a band willing to try new things, when it hits its very good. Shame it sounds so drab.

i agree, the cd is craply mastered but the vinyl is far superior, and after a few auditions to the songs i found it very interesting on how they changed theif secuence of mood, i recomend this album,
nando.
