After trying out a nice piece of mains kit last weekend that was fitted with USA style sockets i have been thinking of changing to these.
A much tidier way of distribution me thinks.
So where can i get USA sockets and plugs in the UK?

Before anyone says, i know about the regulations regarding this and its my choice ;)

AFAIK, there are no official channels for buying US sockets and plugs in the UK. You'd probably have to import or have a word with the person who brought around that nice piece of mains kit to yours last Saturday, whoever he was. ;)

Otherwise, there's always euro Schukos - you could have them as wall sockets I'm sure seeing as they are approved for use in the rest of Europe obviously and we are part of the EU?

I think the euro ones are 2 pin?
SO not the best solution if that is the case.

Long term plan would be to get a disty box from that nice man, but that will be a little while yet and i would still need to get the plugs for mains leads.

Euro Shukos have 2 pins but they have earth contacts on the sides so that's not an issue. The only "issue" (a trivial one) with Euro plugs/sockets is that you can plug them in either way around so you have to use a polarity checker to make sure they're plugged in the "right" way - if you're anal about that kind of thing and believe it makes a difference ;)

I do have my Shuko's all marked for polarity just because I'm anal, not because I think it makes a difference. If it does I've never heard it.

IMO Shuko's are theoretically better than US plugs/sockets as they have a far larger and more solid contact area than the rather flimsy flat US pins. "That nice man" disagree's with me about this though ;)

These guys have a rather comprehensive selection of plugs and sockets from around the world. They're in Bracknell.

Those are Geman Shukos, Michael. The French variety is exactly the same size and shape, but it has no side earthing strips, earthing being achieved by a pin that protrudes from the socket and fits into a hole in the plug.

Yes, forgot about that. You're right. However, most Shuko plugs have the side earthing strips and the hole so can work in either system. Portugal uses the German version.

You can get quality US hospital grade plugs from Audusa, the same guys who sell the Eupens.

The fun comes when you realise you don't know how to wire them up:D

Said disty box is also available with Euro Schuko sockets too, in case anybody is interested. ;)

Indeed. :) Actually, I've just gotten hold of another one which has yet to have seminal fluids put into it, but in any case these boxes already come filled with reptilian oils (extract of GC-303) in their stock form anyway which makes a useful difference - an imagined one of course... ;)

But yes, very pleased with the seminal fluid version. ;)

I bought both on separate occassions from auctions on a certain US based audio trading site, so didn't pay full US retail prices. Got them spunked up afterwards. I suspect if you source it all from one place, you'll probably end up paying about the same for the bare box as I did.

Yep, it can certainly be done a bit at a time.

I'm running a bit low on cash myself ATM, so that's why I haven't sent my other disty box which arrived last week to be spunked up just yet.

I'll PM you with some more details. :)
