    Hi,

I've just been re setting the bias on the vales on my Dynavox valve amp.

I make no apology for saying that Pete (Zanash)was kind enough to show me how to do this (twice! ).

The figure he suggested was 320mAs.

The figures suggested in technical data he was able to give me suggests anything from 200 to 400.

    Any advances?

I'm not letting on what figures I found the valves set at; suffice to say setting at 320 mA made a BIG difference!

    Cheers Pete,

    David

higher ....a richer warmer sound valves last less long

lower ....thinner cooler sound valves last longer

    thats the normal rational.........

but this may also depend somewhat on the makes ....

imo the best sounding [el34] that I've used

    gt audio
    electro harmonix
    jj

    ok valves

    sevetlanas
    sovtecs

    poor
    chineses valves

altering the biasing on the poorer ones made a bigger difference than on the best sounding ones.
