I am selling my much loved VPI Aries Scout turntable with the VPI JMW-9 tonearm and Goldring G1042 cartridge. I have also upgraded the motor to the Origin Live External DC Advanced Motor Kit (cost £340). Finally, I have the VPI dust cover.

I have all of the original packaging, manuals, setup tools etc.

I am looking for £795 for the lot.

Hi,

Do you still have the original motor?

What improvements did you get from the upgrade?

Hi,

I didn't keep the AC motor.

The main improvement was an increased level of detail and space. The sound stage sounded more open and instruments were more clearly placed. The instruments also sounded cleaner and more natural, particularly cymbals and fast guitar.

It's always difficult to try to describe how music has changed with changes in kit but I hope that this helps.

That's a bloody good price btw, only ever heard good things about vpi & the scout.

:) Thank you Dynamic Turtle :)

Hi,

Pity about the original motor. Would have liked the opportunity to compare myself. The original T/T seems to get good reviews.

I'll offer £775 including delivery to Cheshire.

I'm afraid that I've had some really bad experiences with couriers in the past so I would be really reluctant to trust any of them with a fragile turntable. The only way that I would consider sending it would be if the buyer absolutely guaranteed that there would be no come back if it arrived damaged.

Otherwise, it's collection or a meeting at some mutually accepable location.
