    now it is a new year of paying more money to the mess they got us into, not only v.a.t. going back to 17.5% but set to rise more as well as other conviniances, do not kill the messenger please, what are we going to do to get our money back?

    Hmmm....funny business the VAT. We are unpaid tax collectors! I personally think it was a lot of pain for little gain and retail buisinesses with many lines face considerable hassle as a consequence. I wonder how many capital purchases were made on the basis of being 2.5% VAT cheaper? Compared to the money manufacture at the Bank of England this was no more than peripheral tinkering. I seem to be surrounded by people who are unaffected by any of this financial mess- at least not negatively.
