i currently have

wharfedale diamond 8.3 floorstanders
marantz cd5400 ose cd player
denon 350-se amp

doesnt sound so good when turned up loud and lacking a bit of bass right now

i mainly listen to rock music but sometimes prodigy etc

i was thinking maybe nad 320bee?

The cd5400 could be transformed with a few simple mods ....

£25 worth of parts should up it up to the point where you'd need to spend £750 to beat it .....

I've done a couple of marantz cd5xxxx with great results.

Hi Stuart, with £100 I'd reccomend spending it on music or fun instead.. I really don't think it's enough to get worthwhile improvement over the denon/wharfdale system you've got.

honestly..

thanks for the suggestion but my soldering isnt up to scratch and i dont want to risk killing it.

also the cd player is an updated version which is already modded from marantz or say it says, dont know what they have done though

thanks for the suggestion again, i just spend a fair bit on cds so was looking to upgrade system. maybe i should wait till after x-mas then when i have a bit more money

for the budget the only way you'll be able to improve your system is by going down the diy route. i'd say stick the money in a savings account and add a bit as you can for some new speakers, this is where you'll see the biggest bang for your buck.

Have you tried moving the speakers nearer the rear wall?

Some diy bass traps could help clean up the bass and are doable for under £100.

the speakers are more or less against the wall and are front ported, they can be sand filled which i have thought about but i have tryed to take the plastic plugs off to do this and managed to break them.

hi, try changing and mess around with cables, interconnects, and speaker cables, not to buy but try them out on sale or return, , if i can help then please contact me.regards .nando.

I used to have the model up, the E100.

It was really nothing special. I'd keep what you have.

To get a substantially better amp, I'd be wanting to spend £200-£300.

this is a great power amp to look out for, if your Denon has a pre-out..

better save a bit more if you want one though!

thanks for the information, sadly it doesnt have pre outs

i didnt think it was worth pre/power setup untill your spending £1000+
