Hey, I'm the computer technician for a radio station in my city. I just bought some new sound cards for their recording and radio computers (A storm killed the integrated audio chips). But the recordings they try to make sound horrible with a garbaling/hissing sound in the background. I'll attach an example recording of it.

I'm not a audio expert, I'm a computer guy. But if anyone can help me identify the type of noise it is and help me fix it, I'd be very thankful.

Can you tell us what audio cards these are, what computers they are in/on and whether the noise you provided is at actual level, or has been enhanced to make it easier to identify.

In my experience with these things, noises like that can be caused by incorrect drivers so even if the card works, it won't work well.
