Where can I get cases/enclosures suitable for hifi use? (I'm going to be building my own digital amp see the other thread I'm about to start :) ).

Preferably aluminium, preferably from the EU and preferably ones that look a little bit better than a school science project :)

good luck ;) assuming youve checked out RS and cpc and 19" is out the question the best option is to find a freindly metal fabricator or a local collage doing metal work as an evening class,or how about adapting a second hand case from a broken amp

I haven't checked out RS yet but sort of assume their offerings will be somewhat aesthetically challenged :D What's CPC? And no, I haven't ruled out 19" - by which I assume you mean rack mount?

cpc ,the vynal cover boxes dont look to bad,and yep 19" rack mounting box, either remove the rack mounting ears or get a nice wooden rack to fit it in

Another possibility would be to buy a cheap secondhand power amp and gut it, and just keep the case. Build it into a Naim case, that'd be entertaining...

I'll be interested to see how you get on with this, it's one of the many DIY things I've thought about doing.

you could get some alluminium angle and sheet, make a case from that with a nice think front, or copper for shielding
Then get it anodised or ally painted

Good luck with the LC project, something i was considering but couldnt find enough positive info to persuade me (not trying to put you off Micheal, im naturally paranoid)

I could find an aluminium mine in Australia, extract the ore and smelt it down myself into sheets...I was hoping for something a bit more ready made :D

About the LC project I've become more and more convinced that PWM / Class D/T or whatever you want to call it (it is actually all the same regardless of what Tripath etc might have you believe) amplification is the future and has the potential to be sound extremely good.

Whilst there isn't that much info about the LC modules specifically on the net there's a company that uses their modules to make amps which are very highly regarded:

...IMO they look gorgeous but they are somewhat pricey. Solar HiFi have a forum at the Audio Circles forums.

was going to use one for the cornet, went copper DIY instead, damn nice case those tho.

I believe the guy at IAG will make to your dimensions as well, if not an outboard PSU would be cool :)

Cheers penance - those look really nice. Not in the EU but that just means I'll have to get it sent to the UK and then take it back to Portugal with me to avoid the exorbitant Portuguese customs charges :inferno:
