Hi Joseph, have you tried the 'Art of Sound' site.
Records do seem to move on there, provided they are listed and described and are not batched up into very large lots.
If you offer too many for sale in one lot then the only people who will respond are dealers who will probably offer something like 10p each!

Pete.

I've been trying on and off to sell my record collection for which the majority are in Ex condition many are difficult to find. My advice is to forget dealers altogether and sell on an individual basis. Takes a lot longer but as least you get a reasonable price. Dealers are the pits and their offers are at best insulting even if they do have to mark up to make a profit. Luckily, I managed to find a private collector with whom I was able to negotiate an acceptable price for the lot. He's paying by instalments and as yet I haven't had to part with any of them. It's slow going but at least neither of us are being ripped off as he's not paying dealer prices and I'm not selling at dealer prices.

thanks matt, i will have a look, so far i had people who took the insult as they were doing me a favour, zipper was lucky ,he found a private collector,

Hello nando,
Why can't you sell on EbaY? Just curious...I made $1600.00 for one record. Just saying.

Discogs as you can sell that exact release version you have to any prospective customers, and if you have a release variant that is not on their database you can add yours. I find this is the best way to sell my vinyl as the site does tend to channel serious music collectors to your goods ;)

I too recommend Discogs for individual releases, or eBay for sets or entire collections. Once you get established on Discogs, it can be rewarding. However, being a seller is not easy either, customer service, effective packing skills and efficiency are key. Credible shipping materials and a label printer are mandatory.
