where's the catch?

Under General Specifications, it states that the power requirements are 120VAC@60Hz. That and the HDTV bit means it's meant for the US market.

Grey import?

Just an odd observation going to a school with 70% ethnic minorities a lot of foreign people cannot grasp the concept of plurels in the english language. Have a look at this:

For informations how to purchase it at this price please email me at:

I've had millions of sipher type emails written in the same style of language.

Also this is the only bit of text the seller as written, the rest is copy and paste. I would steer clear, especialy with that voltage problem.

a voltage converter is 50 quid from maplins and a lot of dvd players will spit out ntsc if you ask them nicely.
bit of a bargain for someone if you ask me - especially as it;s pickup only. unless it's a scam designed to get you and your 1200 quid to a deserted area of norfolk, there to be mugged by some web fingered mutant.
cheers

The voltage convertors only convert the voltage tho don't they? Its designed to work on 60hz.

But what about warranty etc, even I place detailed information about returns and about how I came by the item, even if I am just selling a £2 mic.

And yep I think the frequency of the mains input will be a problem, the only real way round is is probably modify the power supply within the TV.

He has only a couple of feedback scores and a 50 inch plasma is not going to cost that little.

If it looks to good to be true etc etc

Convince your mate to buy it cause your waiting for a new card in the post and can't find your cheque book :D

The seller has 5 feedbacks; all positive.

He is located in the Norfolk. (Few USAF bases there. They serve big juicy BBQ Ribs on their open days. Yum! Yum!)
Claims, "Manufacturer Warranty (authorised online retailer): 90 days labor 1 year parts" (though best to get clarification)
He state " Note: This listing is restricted to pre-approved bidders or buyers only." and has included an email add to contact. Don't know what this means but it is not the sort of thing a con man need to do. Seems to me that he want to discuss before getting people to bid.
I have personal experience of using Notebooks and other stuff bought in the US. Had no problems with mains frequency difference. But check with seller and Sony UK.
Since it cost over a grand, not a bad idea to have a chat over the phone and then go and see it working before parting with the money.
Could be a good buy and worth investigating, IMO.

But not for people worried about ethnic minorities, foreign people, plurals and the English language.
These things are probably made by people with all such 'defects'.

I wonder what he was trying to do by stipulating, "This listing is restricted to pre-approved bidders or buyers only". Western Union money transfer to Nigeria? Very strange things goes on at eBay.

I have been though over 100 transactions at eBay as bluemax_101 but only once I came across a rouge trader. eBay cancelled the deal but she left a negative feedback for me. :( Only one I ever had.
