I'm looking for a Digital I/C.

I bought one from a forum member months ago, but recently swapped it out for a Silver strand "Lintz" Audio I/C (as sold on ebay by Dogsplodge) & got quite an improvement.

I was going to try :

Dogsplodge Silver Digital I/C
Super Sound Pipe
A Silver core / Copper braid made by a friend

Any other suggestions?

Thanks! (& no fighting!!! :D)

Hello Strummer!
Thor digital-I'll drop one into the post for you to try.
Van Damme Plasma grade
NVA digital soundpipe-my favourite

We know they can sound different;-)

DPA Black Slink Digilink, I also have a silver cable terminated with eichmann bullets which a forum member made up for me a year or so ago - both fine cables.

We certainly do Frank. Quite a difference.

Is the Thor the one you brought round with the SoundPipe?

Thanks Neil

Just did a search on that. Looks like it's discontinued??

Strummer - yeah sadly dpa are no more but the cables sometimes come up on ebay and one or two reels of black slink seem to be around still! The black slink digilink was an option (for about £125 if I recall) with their DACs. It was about 0.75m in length and was fitted with WBT phonos. If you're interested I may have one hidden away somewhere (always was a fan of dpa stuff) which I could try to look out?

Thank you chaps.

I now have a selection on their way to me & will revert with my findings.

Thanks again!

as far as im concerned there is only one digital interconnect that floats my boat.

The Missing Link Cryo Reference Digital.

have compared it exhaustively to chord signarure, kimber D60, cable talk digital and various other mid to high end offerings from the likes of nordost etc. Every time it comes out on top for its sheer musicality and smoothness. Its a winner.

and good value at only £30 in kit form. It doesnt quite have the clarity of the £120 cryo ref... but it gets scary scary close for a quarter of the price.

You can try both Kimber Illuminati D-60 and Stereovox HV2. Both can be bought cheap s/h on AudiogoN.

Agree absolutely - were it not for the fact I use a twin AT&T optical (essential with my Audio synthesi ASDL link) this is the one I would use

at a recent bakeoff... the missing link cryo reference conclusively trounced the kimber D60. In fact every one of us was very dissapointed with its performance. Finding it slow and veiled in comparison. In fact rather concerningly the D60 was bettered by missing links basic "digit" cable which is only £30 fully assembled.

I have been disappointed with Kimber's digital cables - I'm a fan of their analogue wires. Overpriced but not overrated! When I used a dpa transport and dac I tried 3 kimber cables - all were OK but even the silver cable (can't remember the designation) didn't better dpa's own offerings. Mind you I've not noticed differences in digital cables as much as in analogue ones, certainly not in the dpa set up.

Mark Grant cables digital interconnect. Last time I bought one was this time last year (3 metre) although I've never actually used it as my new DVD player didn't have a coaxial output ( doh ).

He uses good quality Belden broadcast quality cable and terminates using top quality Canare plugs ( using the correct cripmpng pliers too) .

He doesn't charge extrortionate prices, nor give his cables stupid bullshit names and try to shroud them in pseudo science techno-babble ( last time i looked anyway :) ) .

Last time i tested a handful I honestly came to the conclusion that digi-cables all sound the same imo so you might as well just buy a well made, good quality basic cable and spend the rest of your money on equipment supports, CD treatments, isolation devices and Hi-Fi cleaning products...
;)

Hi - just dropping in a post so I can keep an eye on this thread!

I had a Missing Link Cryo Ref Digi and stupidly sold it on when I (temporarily) changed to an integrated CDP. Sigh ..... :(

Hi ,I've just made up the dark art kit and very good it is too-beats the Soundpipe for detail and bass tunefulness, if a little recessed sounding in my system-a truly great way to spend £32 on your system:)

Prompted by this thread I've been playing around a bit with digital i/cs.

The 'nicest' I've tried with my current setup is a single run from an NVA Sound Cord pair - £10 a pair and a really musical sound (good as an analog pair, too).

Also good is a digi cable supplied by Stanley Beresford (of DAC fame).

I've also just bought (but not yet received) a Chord Signature and an IXOS 608 digi lead.

This is fun! :)
