    Hi guys.
I'm going to buy new speakers for my PC.
    Suggest me something good, please.
All I need is well designed, good sound quality and not expensive speakers.
All your replies will be much appreciated.
    Thanks

    What is your budget?

Not expensive may mean £200, or it might mean £20 :)

Any size restrictions? What are your listening habits?

    Why not some good headphones?

This should help people give recommendations.

I would look out for a second hand pair of Alesis Monitor One MKII Active on the SoundOnSound classifieds site.

Bare in mind that Simon is (I think) an "active speaker" man.

I haven't compared "active" with non active so can't really make a judgement....except many people seem to use non-actives!

I think there are many speakers on the market.

If it was me I'd go 2nd hand (I payed for £100 for 2nd hand Ruark Sceptres which quite nice)....and probably e bay......or look through the private adds on the forums.

Gte some ideas from the audioreview site.

For computer speakers I think active has to be the only sensible way to go, since desk space is usually limited and you can control the volume from the computer.

David you should get to hear some active speakers in your own place. They are quite differnt to the usually passive speaker sound in the lower end of the price range. Quite superior, really.

Depends if you want audiophile / cheap'n'cheerful or something in between! - if they are for sitting on your desk (via a small amp from soundcard) for your own listening rather than room filling sound I'd buy a 2nd hand pair of Russ Andrews Rave 2 Loudspeakers or a pair of JBL control 1, great fun and don't break the bank.
