Why we love vinyl

nostalgia, and those wonderful cardboard sleeves that can be read, sounds awesome,
nando.

Because it requires effort; a worthwhile one.

Done properly, it blows the doors off digital.

You actually have to handle it between your fingers and be gentle.

vinyl...

Hi all,

I think we love vinyl so much because you get more involved with the whole process, it's the physical size of the album, then you have to gently handle the black plastic album, and then place on a platter and engage the needle into the groove. A cd is a none loving process as we know. And some of the older vinyl album covers are totally nostalgic, a total work of art actually!

Only my tuppence worth guys.....

there are many terrible vinyl recordings of music i like... the CD versions being of better quality, this being the only time i prefer CD. :)

Why I love vinyl.....because it sounds SO MUCH BETTER than any digital player I have heard!...Vinyl makes music, vinyl is cheap....

in the days of squeezeboxes, sonos and apple TV, soon putting a CD on will be done for the "tactile" pleasure of doing so. Its becoming the new vinyl, where those who want to preserve sound quality (like me) would rather have the CD in their hand, than a bunch of downloaded music.

Funny, now that you mention it... that's indeed the main thing I miss lately, after having sold my CD-player a few months ago. (only have SB3 as source now)

... why do you bother with such antiquated rubbish!!!

Just a part of my antiquated rubbish

I have about 3000 "antiquated" LPs :MILD:

Totally spot on...the artwork on some LP covers is extraordinary.

CDs have a little fold out paper thing, not worth the bother and a bit soulless...

LP's? LP'S????

You're all mad, why do you bother with such antiquated rubbish!!!

Not all of us are mad - I bought my first CD player in 1985, and since then I have bought one LP (and that only because it was never issued on CD). I just couldn't be bothered with a format that requires so much effort for at best equal sound quality (they'll never make a real audiophile out of me :()

Things that require effort;
Relationships
Making love
Skiing (any sport for that matter)
Reading
Eating fine food.................

Just about all worthwhile and enjoyable things in life require some effort. Now get off your arse and start enjoying your music properly!

Phil Hi, do you compare vinyl and CD copies of the same recording, you have a decent cdp and turntable how would you say they compare in your system? Keith.
