As any good doctor will tell you though of course, wax is there for a reason, and the body needs no artificial assitance in cleaning the inner ear...
<medical hat on> Anyone cleaning their inner ear is in serious trouble, that's the the bit with the auditory and balance sensors! The bit from the ear drum to the external ear is the outer ear.<medical hat off; I look even more silly wearing a hat than I do normally

I've had an ongoing throat infection (taken me 3 - 4 years to get to the point i'm at, which is a 4 - 5 year waiting list for an operation ). an my ears regularly feel blocked. I went to the doc's and mentioned it but they said it was nothing. How can they say it's nothing when I KNOW it's not!!! I feel pressure in my ears and they make a sort of popping feeling sometimes. Like having water stuck in them.
I know EXACTLY what you mean; I could have written that last sentence myself as I've been having a similar problem for a while now too. In my case, and probably yours, this is likely due to fluid collection in the middle ear rather than wax in the outer ear. In your case this would be due to what must be a damned annoying throat infection, in mine it's my nose which is silly, being allergic to dust or something as common giving me a sort of permanently slightly blocked nose. I've sneezed every day for as long as I can remember.
All this does though make me irritated when people talk about needing extra special hearing to appreciate proper HiFi. Cobblers!
