Rob, the kids would like to get their hands on those tweeters.

I just find it interesting that heavyweights like Philips are entering the market. Those speakers may sound like crap but I suspect not (cost about £800)...Philips have massive buying power for components.

    Rob, Simon,

Seems to me that the aquisition, re-brand and hopefully, re-invigoration of this forum is an excellent idea and I wish you the best with it.

Caipirinhas on me when you're next around this way...

    I wish Audiosmile-Zerogain well.

I hope we can increase the traffic and the quality of sensible posting.

I approve of the science led approach.

There's nothing wrong with 79 strand!

I take it that all long-term ZG members get a free pair of Audiosmile speakers by way of thanks for their loyalty?

Unlike elsewhere, I hope people don't need a bribe to post here.

(This stance subject to change when AudioSmile bring out a speaker with a proper 15" bass driver.)

    Hi Markus,

Can't help on that front but there is work afoot on a Spendor BC1 sized system, using damped thin-wall construction but with better sensitivity than those old designs.

    8" bass driver most likely.

Good to see a great forum revived. A few years ago, Simon gave me lots of good advice via ZG when I was clueless as to which speakers to buy; but it was an article by Rob that convinced me to go down the electrostatic route. So thanks guys and all the best.

Quad 57's. I play them in a small room, set right up against the back wall, driven by 25W of class A solid state amplification, played at low volumes, listening position is about 4 feet away; basically everything that I'd been told not to do with 57's and yet they sound superb!!:D
