Bangle quits BMW

. IN the current generation, I'd rather have a mercedes E class.

I like the E class that has just been replaced, but not the very latest one. The latest E class has the awkward headlamp design and bulging "muscular" wheel arches like the S class, which presumably is to make it (the S class) look aggressive, but IMO a luxury car in that class needs to be elegant. Just look at the latest Maserati Quattroporte, Audi A8 etc. The 7 series looks quite nice now that the awkward boot line has disappeared. I think it looks much better than the S class.

The new BMW Z4 also looks much better now.

i liked the last 7 series as well.. that whole late 90's early 00's generation of BMW's were IMHO spot on in terms of appearance, ergonomics, engines and image. They havent bettered them yet IMHO.

I agree with you about the E class... my friend has a 2006 model.. and it is simply superb, inside and out.

I think this thread needs more pictures:D

I like the latest 7 Series, this is the Alpina version.

and the new Z4

I don't like the current S class,

the new E class saloon,

or the new E class Coupe.

I'd like a Mercedes from the 1950s or 60s, but I don't like the current ones. The Z4 is quite nice. Saw an X6 today -- ugly and pointless.

Try and get hold of the Z4 M coupe for 20mins. I nearly shit myself in one 2 years ago. The rear end hunches down under acceleration in nearly all gears from what I recall.

It deserves to be a classic in 25 years. I can see alot of 240z in it's proportions

The new Z4 shape is very attractive.

A friend has just bought an Audi A4. Not that dear, but it really looks good.

Seen the Advert Arlequen...

Fully waxed, fluffed, full leather, some rear-end damage

- then of course there's the car... ;)

I used to have one of these until it got nicked to order with a crane, one month after the insurance lapsed as it was SORN for a month or so. It was mint condition in bronze-beige and even had a boot full of Autoglym products. Looked very much like this condition-wise. A very lovely car.

My neighbour even made the bloke a coffee... Twot.

There's any number of cars available for the same money. A 645i isn't exactly my idea of fun -- it seems a little aesthetically and dynamically challenged, but if you like it and it meets your needs, then you know what to do.

Quite.

Well, I have to drive one to find out - BMW do make big coupes handle well - better than Mercedes 'orrible CL.

The 645i is a bit of a barge, and drinks petrol, you will find. It's also plug-ugly. The 335i lapped Nurburgring faster than the previous-incarnation (5 litre V8) M5.

Compared to a 335, yes. compared to other big coupe like the aforementioned Mercedes it isn't that bad. I didn't think it handled too badly when I drove one a while ago. I'd still have the 3 or the 5 series though:).

Yes! Picked one up a couple of weeks ago - brilliant fun and still useable for the daily commute. All that power is taking a bit of getting used to coming from an MX-5.

I actually prefer the styling of the Z4 coupe to the new Z4 retractable hard top. This is one example where Bangle's flame surface treatment works very well.

There were a lot of black Z4 coupes with champagne leather interiors in dealerships as demos and they looked very nice.

Does anyone lese here think that the Z4 coupe has "borrowed" its look from the Triumph GT6?

nobody like my old car then?

...and yes, I am fishing for compliments. ;)

Its like a car version of Peter Bowles. I miss it.
