Here are three from me to start, there must be many more, the ones that make you turn off the radio in disgust. How in the name of sanity do they get any airtime ?

'Dance Tonight' by dog breath McCartney

The last two utter shite releases by Yusuf Islam.
If that's the effect converting to Islam has on the mind then no wonder the world's in such a mess.

Anything by Oasis, Robbie Williams, Scissor Sisters, Paul McCartney since the Beatles, Queen, and anything by U2 since about 1982.

Also anything hyped into the stratosphere on release where the artist is made out to be the greatest or next big thing but in fact is utter rubbish and turns out to be that artist only hit - two examples from the nineties are 'Your Woman' by White Town and 'Spaceman' by Babylon Zoo.

Having said that, I don't mind so-called 'Novelty' songs, because they don't pretend to be anything they aren't, just someone having a laugh usually

Agreed. Barbie Girl was mentioned earlier in the thread. Not my thing at all, but at least it doesn't pretend to be anything it's not.

I liked the white town tune, though can't think of anything else they did after that? Spaceman made me laugh a lot at the time. Loads of people were really into it off the back of the advert, then the look of dissapointment when they heard the full track

My vote would go for anything by Cast.

Don't knock 'Oh-asis' they are beeping cool do you know what -a- beeping mean? Knock 'em again and I will beeing knock ya beeping 'ead off.

    ;)

Actually Oasis I am not a big fan but I do like them :).

I am starting to think that some of Morrissey's latest stuff is getting whiney but I shall give him a few more chances because he is still god in my eyes.

Pretty much all late 90's dancepop should be killed.

I also hate all this gansta hip hop garbage I just don't like with it at all. When I listen to people Morrissey and Jarvis Cocker I instantly related to it but then I suppose we are all white, lived in a fairly poor but middle glass background in a good suburb and all had a bit of a misfit live at school. I suppose for urban people they can relate to hip hop in the same way I can related to Morrissey moaning about his head master!

    Can't relate to Morrissey much.

Jarvis is quite funn. I have met him a few times.

    Are we?

How do you know? a bit of a sweeping statement.

    Misfit?

I suppose it depends on what you mean by 'relate to'. If you want to sell loads of items you have to appeal to as many people as possible. A lot of non "Urban" people will like certain hip hop tunes as well as. For example, you may be surprised how many 'indie' kids like Dizzee Rascal.

Wow - how on earth did you come up with this sweeping generalisation.

Wrong in some part at least for most of those people I have met from here (from what I know of them).
My background is certainly not middle class, nor 'a good suburb' and as for the misfit - bit like a horoscope reading that one, everyone can think of times they have felt a little that way, but doesn't mean it is a label that actually fits.

Actually, I really dislike Ali Campbell's pseudo West Indian accent in ANYTHING EVER recorded by UB40. I can't get to the OFF knob quick enough!

However, I am very broad minded with music and rarely write off an act outright. (except UB40). I remember being criticised for buying 'Born To Do It' (Craaaaig David) but I had to defend it by saying that it was a very good example of this type of music. Since this album, I have purchased no more (soz David).

Currently revisiting all my collection from A (Arvo Part for example) to Z (Zeb Dragon for example) due to the arrival of my new amp. No doubt there will be some music I question the point of along the way!! I'll let you know.

Good to know you liked me before I was outed as a queen hater, not that I actually hate queens cos I dont....anyways where was I.....as an early Metallica fan, Queen and DL just shouted 'conformity' during my reckless youth. ipso facto I hate them and still do. Actually come to think of it I hate Elton John a lot more.
