Sorry if this has been answered before, but I haven't really been paying as close attention as I could have; Is this now a manufacturers forum (Audiosmile)?

Neither of us - it was the choice of the manufacturers.

:)

Yes you can, so long as it isn't gratuitous dissing and some explanation/reasoning is given.

Fair?

Well I did not hear them but they seem a bit expensive for small boxes with seas excell drivers that are very oooold and have been used in hundreds of other speakers... Are the tweeters very expensive?

Janko, they cost what they need to cost to make them and put them in a shop. Seas Excel woofers aren't really that common for the fact they cost a lot. I haven't seen them in hundreds of speaker models.

If you don't need to fill a large space I don't think you will find many new speakers for £2k that offer such quality.

Looks absolutely ace in the pics.

Thanks Rob - unfortunately that was the first two they sent - no sooner did we say 'yes, give us the rest to that standard' than they buggered it up!

Seas excell do cost around 200 USD of the shelf. I know they are very good and have heard them in many incarnations. They were used on Jamo's, I think they were called Concert speakers some 15 years ago, Linkwitz uses them for his Orions, they are used in many kits and by many other companies.... I'm just saying the boxes are expensive for a small passive design, that uses of the shelf components.

i really think you should give them a listen, they are super no matter what music you listen to, :) worth every penny

In general small speakers are less expensive than floorstaninding ones. That's because they aren't as good quality in most cases. I made the Kensai because I saw a gap in the market for a really small speaker that uses the very best in all areas of its design. There are some standmount speakers that do this, but few as small as the Kensai. That is it's selling point, not a weakness.

Actually it costs about the same to make a top quality small speaker as a larger one. Everything is much the same except the cabinet, and that has a little less material but tighter tolerance needed, and the labour is similar.

To many keen enthusiasts on forums like this, small is not an advantage since you don't mind having big speakers. To others who are not hi-fi enthusiasts and don't want to see big speakers in their front room, then small is a big bonus, especially when it doesn't sacrifice sound quality. In fact the Kensai beats most floorstading £2k speakers for everything except bass power.
