Information re isolation

I use two squash balls and one Delrin or brass cone under each box - seems to give me the best results. Squash balls give isolation and the one cone is the energy drain.

I use Vibrapods and cones under my T/T and two main speakers plus Centre 34 in all .I find them very good great under my T/T Thorens 850 with a SME 309 arm plus a Origin
Live Ultra Motor Kit in a stand off position.Speakers are big
Wharfedale Opus 3 weigh 73 lbs no problums with any gear.

IXOS do some sorbothane blocks with a hollow that faces away from the component. A box of 4 is only about £20.
Very good value IMHO, although I'll probably get debunked by some smarty pants on here! Its better than being directly on glass. Have em under my phono stage.
:D :p

those ixos are bloody good,

I spent a lot of time with these kinds of tweaks - I tried a variety of different couplings from sorbothane foculpods through oak and RDC cones to higher tech solutions like pulsar points and (when I had time/cash to spare!) a seismic sink.
My system at that time was a dpa transport and DAC (although I also had an AVI CD spinner) through Chord or AVI amps. What did I discover - the biggest effect was achieved by putting devices under the CD player or transport. Under the amps the effect was more subtle (read non-existant - for me at any rate!). The seismic sink was great, better "focus" all round is the best way to describe the effect, but expensive and to me pretty ugly. The best of the rest were definately Final Daruma 3 isolators, these are machined aluminium and "float" the component - seems weird but is amazingly effective on sources. It didn't make a lot of difference on amps as far as I could see. Details here:

I also quite liked Art Q-dampers - little graphite blocks with a brass insert for cones/spikes to sit in. The effect of foculpods/oak cones and the like did not seem as convincing to me.

Pretty much my own experience, except I find it fascinating rather than ugly.

Agree defo time cash thing.

i loved my seismic sink and stillpoints but the most dramatic upgrade was the sonority design shelf, made a massive difference.
i have my speakers on them too and that really controls any excess bass and sounds beautiful
