Very neatly cut braces too. Did you do all that with a hand router and jigs!?

Also I just noticed how thick the front baffle is... what 50mm?

Thanks Rob,

Tannoy 15" DMT.

Simon, yes, jig saw and hand held router. I bought a couple of 8 x 4 sheets of 24mm birchply. The front baffle is 48mm:).

I hope you're putting them on wheels!

Small world, I've just finished servicing his Quad amplifier :)

Let me know when you have some free time to look at my Luxman. It sounds fine, but after seeing what you did with your receivers I'm wondering if it'll benefit from the Rob treatment:).

Hmm.. you should have called your business 'AmpTLC' Rob!

Dev I still can't believe you cut all that with a jigsaw and router! How did you get such neat curves in the braces?

Is the driver magnet going to be supported by the braces at the back, or is that just a cutout to make some room for it?

There will be a gap of about 5mm between the driver and the brace, filled with bluetac (following advice from Cooky1257).

Ahh yes, that's a good idea. My own experiments with cabinets recently has shown that even a rather soft material can transmit the important low frequencies, which is what you want to couple from driver to the brace. Also Rob tells me Spendor use a soft material to couple braces.

There are of course other options for a harder setting material like epoxy putty or 'hard as nails' for example. There is also a plastic that comes as beads and when you put it in boiling water becomes soft and can be shaped. It sets nice and strong once cool. My Dad got some from eBay and used it to fix the oven handle.

Making sure they stay warm for winter:)

Hi Andy,

I think it's around 140 litres. The actual DMT15 (from memory) I think were 100 litres.

I think they sound great. Clean open and with a tight bass (which I guess is to be expected from a 15" driver). I'm well pleased:).

Excellent work Dev.
I take it these aren't bass light like the others? :)

No Rob :).

TBH, with the tone controls in the appropriate position neither were the CPA12s, but these sound like proper speakers:D.

What are you using to power them Dev?

Must take a look at that Luxman soon.
