If u have a hard floor try a nice thick rug which spans from speaker to speaker, my setup goes to pot when I have mine cleaned, good amount of soft furnishing, better cable which u said u now, which is what by the way and if haven't already done it toe in ur speakers so they aim to just in front of ur listening position for instance.
