Don't know about the live, but the non live is OK for movies but less than mediochre for audio, so I got an SB touch.

The loathsome chore - redecoration; but it has given me the opportunity to tidy up the AV.

    So:

    That's it. Minimalism!

    Open the door:

The Quad 405 is facing back with its heat sink poking out of the back of the Ikea box.

Above you can see the Caiman DAC which takes optical in from the TV, RCA S/PDIF from the Squeezebox which sits in front of the TV, and there is a USB cable loose at the back of the TV in case I want to run the laptop straight into the DAC. There is is a long HDMI cable running along the skirting board. I pull it out from under the sofa and plug the laptop in to see BBC iPlayer content.

That will do for now. In the longer term I will put a small format PC on the back of the TV or in the Ikea box and use Remote Desktop to control it.

And looking down the room at my beautiful redecoration and the new carpet:

The curtains have yet to be hung, but we do have shutters.

    edit: Speakers moved.

This puts the power amp heat sink 1cm from the night store heater, so something will have to change before next winter!

Nice system James. I really enjoyed the LV speakers at the show last Sunday.

Brian, again nice, and tidy. After seeing the first picture I thought the TV was sitting on a sub.

Another New Kid on the Block...

    Hello all,
New to ZG and new to the higher end of audio as well. Have only just begun on my journey, with virtually all of my gear representing very fortunate second hand 'scores'. For example, I picked up my Sony CDP S-7000 for $5--it's basically in mint condition!
    Pics of gear attached.
Have recently replaced the monster cable stuff with my own DIY cables--a significant improvement!
    Cheers,
    Z
    2-Channel Audio
    - Magnepan MG12-QR
    - Sony DVP S-7000
    - EAD DSP-1000
    - Sonic Frontiers SL1 Signature Series
    - Sonic Frontiers SFS-80
    - Decent interconnects/cables that came with tube gear/DAC

    HT
    - Onkyo TX-NR807
    - PS3
    - Optoma HD200-LV
    - 88" Elite fixed projector screen
    - Paradigm in-wall speakers
    - A cheap, second hand paradigm subwoofer (CT series, I think)

The reason the speakers are so high (100cm) is that my listening position is my tall bed. The tweeters are aligned to my ears. I haven't got space for stands, I am self employed so I keep all my receipts and tax returns in those drawers and then some.
