Early this week I decided to change my previous Ikea Besta for an Ikea Odda.
(the Odda's dimensions are more modest and therefor suits my modestly sized system better imho)

I also noticed that the Odda has a slightly better finish. (I swapped the supplied castors for 3 hight adjustable cones)

(unfortunately the pic.quality didn't come out the way I had in mind)

    cheers,

Hi Dev, yes they were bit of a gamble as i didn't know much about them when i bought them I knew i like the sound of the 300B but had not heard this amp I have had solid state amp in the past Exposure IV dual regulated then Parasound JC1 monoblocks so these are a bit of a change. These are the supposed speck's.
    Dared DV-300B
    MONO BLOCK POWER AMPLIFIER
    (PARALLEL SINGLE-END CLASS A)

MAX OUTPUT POWER: 22W PER CHANNEL
    FREQUENCY RESPONSE: 20-20KHz (±1.5dB)
    DISTORTION: ≤2%
    SIGNAL TO NOISE RATIO: ≥86dB
    INPUT SENSITIVITY: 500mV
    INPUT IMPEDANCE: 100K ohm
    OUTPUT IMPEDANCE: 4 ohm/8 ohm/16 ohm
    SIZE: L495 X W260 X H180 MM /piece
    WEIGHT: 30.0Kgs/pair
    TUBES: 6N8P(6SN7)x4,300Bx4

I like the sound they produce but definately think i can improve on things a new cd player possibly but i am thinking of giving vinyl ago. I like to change things around to improve the sound like most of us. I have made a few mistakes in the past purchasing things that weren't quite, right that is one of the reasons for wanting to get more involved on the forum I feel that if I hear some more systems then I may make a more informed choice in my own set up. I am also looking forward to meeting more Hifi enthusiasts on a social basis.

Just thought I'd post what I'm using right now. Naim CD5XS, Musical Fidelity A3 integrated and the speakers are B&W Nautilus 804s, one-offs in piano black.

    My kit

    Hi,

Having just joined I've been prompted to tell you about my kit.

I have only been 'into' HiFi for a little over two years now & have probably bought my kit in the wrong manner.

None of it was bought after listening to it & it was bought solely after reading up on HiFi items & reading reviews & putting 2 & 2 together & getting five.

There are very few HiFi shops close to where I live (West Yorkshire) who would demo/lend equipment, so I chose this route as I had to start somewhere & I wanted to buy everything secondhand as IMHO you get more bang for your buck.

So this is the kit I've ended up with over a two year period,

Esoteric SA60 universal disc player, Harman Kardon PA2400 power amp, Tag Mclaren PA20R preamp, Ruark Templar II speakers.

I have just bought a Systemdek IIX TT off Ebay & am now in the process of trying to find/buy a phono amp, again used if possible.

I've also amassed this equipment as well in the last two years,

    Arcam Alpha 7SE
    Denon DMD 1000
    KEF KHT 2005.1
    Marantz 2060
    Marantz CD6000 OSE SE
    Marantz CD67SE (modded)
    Marantz SR4400/N1S
    Marantz SR7200
    Myryad MC100 (modded)
    NAD 3140
    Panasonic DVD-S75
    Pioneer PD-S501
    Pure DRX-701 ES
    Roksan Kandy KC1 (modded)
    Sony DVP-S735D x 3
    Sony MDS-JE530
    Sony STR-DB930
    Stax SR-40
    Teac R-H300
    Toshiba SD900E

Would like to add a Reel to Reel to this list at some stage, money permitting.

The only problem I have is having a tiny listening space, 20' long x 8' wide & I can only get my speakers 5' apart at the max, not ideal I know, but I manage.

So there it is 'my kit', any comments good or bad are more than welcome as I'm here to learn.

    Cheers,

    Willie

PS, sorry no pics, but I haven't got a digital camera, yet!!

    Uploaded with ImageShack.us

    Hi,

Just joined Audiosmile and prompted to show my stuff.

It has been built up over a 23 year period (where has the bloody time gone) and comprises of -

Linn LP12 with Cetech sub-chasis and Origin Live Ultra psu and DC100 motor.
Ekos arm and Lyra Clavis cartridge.
Tom Evans Microgroove + phono stage.
    On a Mana Reference table.

    Acoustic Precision Eikos CD player.

Naim 82 pre with phono cards removed.

    Sonic Bliss psu.

    Avondale`d Naim 250 power amp.

Oh and a never used Denon cassette deck to fill a hole in the Sound Organisation stack.

    Linn Isobarik speakers.

Please take look at the photo.Any critique on how to improve the sound will be greatfully received, especially if it costs nowt !!!!!

    Also any questions, fire away.

    Cheers

    Davey

The room looks quite bare from a sound absorption point of view. I wouldn't be surprised if you find some notes of bass are noticeably louder than others, or the lower voice range can be a little boxy??

For some bed-time reading have a look at the acoustics articles here - http://www.audiosmile.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=40

    Man Cave

    Turntable - Notts Analogue Interspace / Rega RB300 / AT OC9
    Phono Stage - Trichord Dino
    Digital Sources - Meridian 500 / 566.20 / Apple Airport Express
    Amplifier - ATC SIA 2 - 150
Loud Speakers - ATC SCM 35

The old Sony CRT TV has just been relegated to the man cave. Even though its a bit in the way and the picture is not what it was, its still a nice tele and a shame to shove it in the loft (if I could lift it up there)!!!

A few changes to my system: a Trio L-07D, fully fettled by Vantage Audio in the UK, and a pair of dipole speakers - Jamo R909s:

It would be fair to say that the wife isn't that taken with the size and aesthetics of the Jamo's (understatement - she absolutely hates them). I'm going to work on the principle that, if they're there for a couple of months, you'll hardly notice them. It's worked for me in the past, but the R909s might be a tough call. Having said that, all my mates love them - obviously a bloke thing. You can see the now-dwarfed Neat MF7s hiding behind the left speaker.

They do, however, sound excellent. The bass quality certainly seems superior to the Neat's rear ported version, but it's early days yet to make definitive judgement calls. Must get a better camera though...

I initially had Castle Howard Quarter speakers and then changed to Proac D15. I bought the 802's on a whim wasn't sure if I could accommadate them in my loft. Could I do with a bigger room for them probably! Tried to upload a jpg photo which has been reduced, keep getting unable to move/copy file any advice would be appreciated!

Sold a fair amount of kit lately and currently operating with a rather stripped down system - no vinyl...:(

    Source:
Foobar2000 on Acer Revo net-top PC with Seagate 1TB Expansion drive (CDs ripped to flac), M2Tech Hi-Face USB-SPDIF

    DAC/Pre:
DIY Twisted Pear Buffalo II with Paul Hynes regs & Legato 3.1 I/V stage

    Active XO:
Linkwitz Orion upgraded to 3.3.2 spec

    Power amps:
    2 x DIY 5-channel chipamps

    Speakers:

Will try to sort out some pics at the weekend as I think the dac looks rather cool in its Modu case with acrylic front panel
