Solid State amps with 'presence'

    Are there any solid state (hybrid?) amps that have that sense of 'presence' that a good all tube design has?

    Hybrid - Pathos maybe.

    SS - Sugden, Karan, Ayre, Dartzeel - to name a few.

    I'm sure there'll be plenty more suggestions to follow.

    Thanks for the reply, I have a Sugden A21 and very good as it is, it doesn't, to me, give that same sense of presence that a good valve amp can.

    What I mean by sense of presence is that real 'reach out and touch', tangible, 3D sense of performers in the room with you kind of thing....

    Ref 3A Dulcet

    Budget around £2-3K or so

    I like the Sugden and think it makes a pretty good fist of things for SS but wonder if there is better out there

    Voices are extremely real and palpable on my system, but the source and speakers are at least as important, with regard to this quality, as the amplifiers.
