Tv Licence Rip Off, Time To Stop.

If this is all about the boxes being called "Freeview Receivers" then it is a bonkers thread.

They receive the Freeview channels.

You ALSO receive other stuff such as the BBC which you pay towards with the licence fee.

So you would be happier if the Freeview receiver didn't have these channels and you needed another reciever to get the BBC stuff?

Bear in mind that the licence does cover radio and televison content irrespective of how received (i.e. does not need to be viewed on a TV) - or at least I think that is the case if not been changed since I last checked.

Off topic:

I receive BBC by my SKY account but I still prefer CNN cos dunno why but I understand Yankees more than Britishes .. don't laugh .. I know your english is better or at least more pure than the one I can get by CNN but this is what happens to me..

i rest my case as my friend nick f. from lbc radio had the same issue and views on this matter , i now believe how naive and goulable we are, take what your are given down your gob, and when it gets sower complain in your local, great, pay, pay, pay, good for all that agree to disagree, pay on, i won my case to not pay due to my protest, i watch very little tv except for football or documentarys, i have done it for my dear wife and my dear old friends who have their little moneys, I REST MY CASE, long live those poor and sick soaps we are paying for, HAPPY DAYS,
nando

guess so, bye to the dvision bells, my thoughts why i started this thread was that i "amongst others" who are getting rip off left right and center by goverments and those of the older comuinty who have very few pennys in their hands, can just afford to buy bread yet theyare forced to pay to watch so called arse actors and actresess who can not even speak and they all have suntans , never go to the toilet, never work, it makes me sick, as i said before, what does FREEVIEW MEAN is it not inglis, SORRY ENGLISH,
nando.

My dear old aunt refused to have television until she reached the grand old age of 75 and could receive TV free from the iniquitous license fee. Can someone please tell the BBC that the usual retirement age in the UK is 65 and not 75. I can get free bus rides before I can get free BBC!

well spoken, as a famous musician said get up and stnd up for your rights,
nando.

yes, but will the transport "bus or others" have a tv inside for passengers to watch? free ,
nando.

:)

My real objection to paying a subscription to public broadcasting is that I have no choice in the matter. If I choose not to watch our excellent BBC and decide only to watch independent channels or indeed SKY I still have to pay the BBC. With our license, should we choose to buy it, we should be issued with a little card that slots into the TV and gives us access to the excellent BBC broadcasting network and if we wish only the other channels then we need not pay the fee. :MILD:

well put, going back to the days of "slot a coin " to your pay as per view, if you do not want to watch bib don't pay if you do put your pay-as-you-go,
nando
