In two days time this forum will be one year old. I would like to thank Micheal for all his hard work and expense in making this forum work.

I would also like to thank all them members for making this forum pleasent and enoyable to post on.

People on here have certainly influenced the way in which my HIFI has gone and of course helped me to realise that HIFI is only a time part of the pleasure that music can bring.

This forum has worked just well as Groovehandle if not better, aI think people of learn't from their mistakes there and have moved on, hence why this site is so nice.

This is perhaps the best British based HIFI forum on the web, HIFI Choice has gone down the pants etc. I think its great that this forum manages to cover evertything from the £20 1976 Pioneer amp to the £20,000 high end stuff.

Yes, well done... and to celebrate, I think the forum needs a new logo - I feel the legacy of groovehandle should now be laid to rest forever. ;)

well done and a big thanks to michael for giving us delinquents somewhere to loiter.

i say leave the logo alone. it's good to remember your roots.

cheers

Well done indeed, i can only imagine how much hassle and organisation goes into keeping a place like this running smoothly. Well done Micheal et al.

I would take issue with a couple of points though.
There seems to be quite a good blend of Hi-Fi forums running at the moment. Your comment that HFC is Pants is noted , i would like to say that there are quite a few folk who have never left HFC and still contribute to its content, believe it or not some of them are not only intelligent, but have a vast wealth of knowledge and experience on matters of Hi-Fi. It is true to say that HFC is probably more populated by folk just starting out, but then again everybody started somewhere. A bit of cross forum friendly banter is all well a good but i still note a bit of elitist 'we're better than you' in your comments. General rubbishing of other peoples efforts is not that friendly imho , apart of course when it is refering to modern 'crash, bang' classical music or British 'Tate modern art'.

I also think that it is great that GH can discuss everything from the 1976 £20 pioneer amp to the £20K high end stuff, I don't think this has always been the case though, i seem to recall in the very early days that the forum was more aimed at mid to high end and and may even have gone so far to state this in some threads. My memory is clouded a little on this minor matter though. Certainly over the last few months GH has been a very friendly and fun place to be. Thats what its all about isn't it , having fun .

Keep up the good work , I'm sure it is appreciated by all.

Best Regards

I agree with Julian that we retain the GrooveHandle reference - Joel was the one who started us on this course (when HFC shut up shop one Christmas-New Year), and it's good to remember that.

My comments were more about the reliability of HFC rather than the people. I admit I have not been on it for a while because every time I did there were some kind of server problems, may they have sorted this now though. I seem to remember Groovehandle being a bit more high end than this forum, so it would make sence that it did start off as more high end.

I think what is good about this forum (maybe others are the same) is that most people seem to have a good sense of real life and no when the hobby is getting out of hand (i.e spending £20k on speaker cables).

Yup. Happy Birthday and well done all but especially Michael.

The thing I like about this forum is that it doesn't take itself too seriously, even though there's a lot of quite knowlegable folks, its not elitist. Lots of different people with different views and different perspectives on our hobby(s) and rarely descending into bickering or flame wars. On some forums people can be so hyper sensitive that they can't take a bit of ribbing. Not so here.

Wish there was more chat over on the music section though.

Cheers guys :D . This w/e I should be switching over to the vb 3.0.1 software, once I've managed to edit some of the new buttons to fit better with the colour scheme and be a bit less garish.

We could have a new logo but I wouldn't mind keeping the tagline as it is (allthough I think Joel would like it changed :p ). I'm no good at logo design though. I've mentioned it before but maybe when the new forum software is up and running we'll have a logo competition...

Michael.

Z/G a year old, and growing stronger too, Its certainly one of the most diverse single purpose forums this side of the pond for sure, congrats micheal on a great fledgling year.
Bourne out of Groovehandle demise, its carried out on its own indivdual path, yes it is more than any indivdual its the sum of the parts. Good stuff ol' man :)
