Simon makes a valid point, however I would put years instead of months to really quantify it.

    lets make it decades.

that should stop people going DIY, and buy very expensive audiophile products instead! :D

    reality:
    1. there are thousands of tried and tested kits you can just make.
    2. you don't need to understand any of the above, just copy an existing design, or get some help from someone that does!! :D

Well, looking at them it'd only take an afternoon to improve their appearance.
They look like some of those match covered things prisoners make.

To quote lilolee: Having heard these myself they are great speakers. Excellent mid and treble, no real deep bass, but a good illusion, and they do have a separate subwoofer if you need to drive a anything bigger than REALLY small room

What is the point in spending so much money on a loudspeaker when it has no real bass:confused:

I listen to Jazz, Soul, 70's rock/pop and prog rock... you need bass!! I can understand it if you are listening to music with these PENaudios in your bedroom but even then I still look at buying a used pair of ATC 50 Active!

Please someone explain the benefit of a speaker that doesn't produce bass.

It's actually tight and musical bass that allows you to follow the tune.

Well, depending on whether your comment was genuine or just a put down - Why not have a listen and find out?

I'm not defending these speakers as such, in fact I've not heard them either. It may be that for your taste, they are crap. However, I do know that small speakers can sound very, very good. Especially on things like acoustic guitar, violin, vocals etc..

Certainly I'd rather have a pair of those 15" MEGs I posted about, but they are £8k worth of entirely differnt beast!

They might need a really large room to work at their best.

Yes it might go something like:

    Wife
"Oh my GOD  I can't believe you just spent that much of our savings on a speaker... a SPEAKER! You didn't even manage to get one that is huge and ugly to dominate my living room! You know I like them large and invasive. I want a divorce..."

recently i think i have reached the holy grail og loudspeakers.
adam tensor gamma loudspeakers so true to life my wiofe whom hates hifi found them very natural and musical said a flute sounded just like one. She has heard many loudspeakers, as has suffered in reluctant silence over my many mny speaker changes.
i think her to be obeyed has finally found a speaker which offers realism
    keep on rocking

or...wifey; "How much? For those? And what do you call that veneer, Strangeways?
I've got shoe boxes bigger than those!"

Seizing his chance; Hubs; "Shoeboxes yes that's right you have haven't you? Loads of them, mmmm shall we do some calculations or would you be a good lass and put the kettle on..?

See getting her ladyship to come round to your way of thinking is just down to tactics and a bit of give and take.
Big ugly speakers needn't dominate her living room when they can have a room all their own.

What are you on about!! I can follow a tune on my car speakers. I'm pretty sure I followed all the tunes on the first system I ever had!

Please stop with the 'follow the tune' bull and come up with a better answer.

I agree you can get very good small speakers and also ones that do better bass than some floorstanders.

Well, it's got a 15" bass cone, so not your typical standmount to be fair! - more like a Tannoy DMT15 really.

It has to be said, on the ''telly stand from high school'' that the speaker sits upon it looks absolutely like shit!!

If ever a speaker needed a better looking stand..>!
