John, I shot the video and trust me anything you are hearing there is due to volume level and proximity to speakers, absolutely not the differences in the sound of the decks.
Once Andrew completes the needle-drops I'll use them to replace the audio on each clip, once everyone has had a go at guessing which deck recording is which, without the aide of visual clues.
So presumably what you are saying is that the differences between in decks 'in the flesh' were much more subtle than those present in the 'crude' recordings. I look forward to hearing the real thing then!![]()
Yeah, but it is 'sort of' a test
I mean what if people start thinking LP12s sound like Lencos ...... it is always interesting when people can only rely on their ears.
Well I have been holding off, but really - is it just me - but this is just plinkity plonkity Linn music, just the sort of thing the foot taper salesmen used. Can't we have a piece of orchestral, or a band, or jazz or some acoustic music, anything but this. I would rather shoot myself than listen to this 8 times.
A must for the Linn owners record collection so they can wiggle their feet all day long, if the LP12 doesn't come out on top with this with its artificially imposed timing it will be a miracle. Are we being subject to a marketing con job here?
It is the little differences that make all the difference, and are we hearing this on the needle drops apart from what we are supposed to hear. Why can't people just listen to the turntables?
Bloody risky for a con job.
For all Andrew knows his deck might be placed in last place.
He should be be applauded for his effort and having the balls to do this blind.
In case anyone missed it/or doesn't lurk at pfm, needle drops and pictures here:-
