Petros Paukkunen playing Sweelinck Fantasia Crommatica at Stellwagen organ Stralsund Germany (youtube)

Irene De Ruvo - Sweelinck Fantasia Chromatica (youtube)

These are my two favorite performances of this piece that I've come across. As far as the Schoonbroodt Fantasia Chromatica which I listed earlier, ultimately I just don't like the tempo he uses at the beginning. I find it too slow, interrupting flow.

Mogens Wöldike - opening chorus of Bach's Saint Matthew Passion

I think that, for my taste, this is maybe the best recording of this piece that I've ever heard.

Wolfgang Gönnenwein - opening chorus of Bach's Saint Matthew Passion - like this a lot, even more than the Wöldike

Bernard Roberts - a number of selections from the Well-Tempered Clavier Book 1, including BWV 849 - I like the relatively self-effacing approach. I like the tempo on the BWV 849 fugue and BWV 853 fugue.

    Helmut Walcha - BWV 552 fugue (2nd, Alkmaar), BWV 565 (mono), BWV 849 fugue (1st and 2nd)

    Marie-Claire Alain - BWV 538 (2nd)

Harald Vogel - BuxWV 140 (Schnitger organ)

Of the BWV 849 recordings that I've been listening to, Helmut Walcha's first, Masaaki Suzuki (I really like the harpsichord he plays), and Bernard Roberts are my favorites.

Günther Ramin - opening chorus of Matthew Passion (1941) - great drive and energy

Ramin's recording, along with the Mauersberger and Münchinger recordings, are my current favorites for this piece. The balance between the voices in the Gönnenwein doesn't seem to be as good.

Christopher Herrick - BWV 552 fugue - great forward momentum on a nice sounding organ

    Bernard Roberts - BWV 874
