What's playing today ?

An admireable performance as far as I can tell via the MP3(?) compression used by Youtube or maybe far too close microphone positioning. The human voice should never sound so aggressively sharp.

I don't like some of Graindelavoix's ornamentation/improvisation in this performance. It just sounds, at least to me, a little bit out of place in this type of music. Still, I do enjoy the performance.

Bach's Chaconne - Christoph Poppen + The Hilliard Ensemble from the cd Morimur

I hadn't previously heard the Chaconne done in this way. The combination with the singing sounds pretty incredible.

Requiem from Lassus' Missa pro defunctis for five voices sung by Laudantes Consort/Guy Janssens

fugue starts at 8:43

Jane's Addiction and a Dutch double CD called De 2 Meter Sessies - kind of Old Grey Whistle Test.

BWV 552 fugue played by Bernard Foccroulle

Excellent. I like the lack of ego in his playing. The organ he plays (by Arp Schnitger at the Martinikerk in Groningen, Netherlands) has the needed gravity.

Benedictus from Palestrina's Missa Papae Marcelli sung by Pro Cantione Antiqua

song Drones from Muse album - I enjoy this adaptation of Palestrina

Helmuth Rilling's 2000 recording of Crucifixus from Bach's Mass in B minor

youtube Andy Fillebrown Goldberg variation 25

Amadeus Webersinke BWV 552 - While I thought his playing on BWV 686 sounded too romantic, his BWV 552 seems to be outstanding, straight playing.
